Emilia-Romagna is a northern region and is known as Italy’s culinary heartland. It boasts some of the country’s most iconic foods, including Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Prosciutto di Parma Tortellini & Tagliatelle al Ragù, and Lambrusco. Its capital is Bologna (pictured above) which is famous for its medieval towers and the oldest university in the world, founded in 1088. The region is also the home to some of Italy’s most prestigious automotive brands, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Ducati.
Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, is a land of breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and some of Italy’s most unique cultural traditions. It is an autonomous region of Italy, located at the southern tip of the country, separated from the mainland by the Strait of Messina. Known for its blend of Greek, Roman, Arab, and Norman influences, Sicily is a true crossroads of civilizations and this is reflected in its food. Some iconic dishes include: arancini, cannoli, Pasta alla Norma, and Granita
Puglia is a stunning region in southern Italy, forming the "heel" of the Italian boot. It is known for its whitewashed villages, crystal-clear waters, and ancient olive groves. The iconic, fairytale-like cone-shaped houses of the town of Alberobello are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Puglian food is rooted in "cucina povera" (peasant food), using simple, yet high quality ingredients. Typical cuisine includes orecchiette, focaccia, burratta, and taralli. Regional wines include Primitivo di Manduria and Negroamaro.
Lazio, located in central Italy, is one of the country's most historically significant regions. It is best known as the home of Rome, Italy’s capital and a city that has shaped Western civilization for over two millennia. Beyond Rome, Lazio offers ancient ruins, medieval hilltop towns, volcanic lakes, and stunning coastline, making it a region of great cultural and natural diversity. Lazio’s cuisine is simple, rustic, and rich in flavors, and includes pasta dishes such as Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana, and Carbonara.
Experience Little Italy history through its architecture and hear interesting stories of the neighborhood!
